Since launching back in July 2015, Psyonix’s Rocket League has built up an impressive esports following, and it consistently does well in our Twitch ranking. According to our Game Streaming Tracker, the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) had its best year yet, boasting 18 million hours of live viewership on Twitch in 2018. The title was not yet able to break the top 10 most-watched content categories on Twitch over the past seven days, despite the success of the World Rocket League Championship as an event. Fans are not too happy with the new Rocket League Blueprints system

It looks like fans are not too happy with the new Blueprints system Psyonix put into Rocket League, and are already demanding a change back. The game’s official Reddit is currently seeing player outrage over everything in the new update. From not being able to get much of a turnaround in credits for bad items, to costing credits just to exit a match. Which is ironic since all of the measures were implemented after community feedback, and now that community is revolting against the very changes they asked for. Like preventing people from just bailing on matches, or having an alternative to loot crates.

The new Item Shop offers items from the now-retired crates as well as newly introduced items on a 24 and 48-hour cycle. But the bad news started immediately with the first round. The Infinium wheels currently available in the shop, for example, went for less than one key in the community’s trading market before the update. This came down to less than a single dollar for the wheels. But the item shop sells it for 1400 credits, which roughly equals 14 keys, or about $14. The Rocket League community immediately picked up their pitchforks and took to Reddit and Twitter to voice their displeasure over the prices. And who can blame them? While it might be worth paying a bit more for guaranteed unlocks, the inflation of these prices seems ridiculous at best. Even for those who were lucky enough to have a crate turn into a rare black market blueprint, these are all set to cost 2000 credits each for the unpainted version. Meanwhile, many of them went for just a few keys in the community trading market.

While a select few have welcomed the change, most of the community is pretty upset with the outrageous DLC prices the store is asking for certain Blueprints, such as the equivalent of $24.99 for a simple goal explosion. The Rocket League subreddit has seen most of the outcry, with some players even joking there is a bug which added an extra zero to all of the prices. Another player pointed out many of the single items cost more than the game itself. There was an entire micro-economy built around players trading Crates and Keys, and some fans are speculating that the change is a simple money grab by the developers so they can charge players for items themselves instead of letting them charge each other.
